Ever since I was little, I've loved Advent calendars. Not the kind with chocolate or other treats, but the kind with little windows you open up each day with little messages inside. Some have bible verses, some hymn lyrics... all associated with preparing for the celebration of Jesus' birth. 

I especially love the ones that take you through the Christmas story bit by bit from the beginning of Advent through Christmas morning. 

I love the anticipation of reading the next part of the young couple's journey each day and the feeling of getting just a little bit closer to Christmas.
