Image [Adventure]

[Adventure 255]

After a conversation with their friend Dakota, Onyx excitedly posed the question of what we see when someone tells us to picture something like an apple.

When Onyx pictures an apple, it's a very specific image. It's a red apple with a long-ish stem with a leaf on it sitting on a wooden table with some sort of something in the background. And it's like that for a lot of things - like they have specific stock images stored in their brain for most things.

They asked if everyone else has these images.

I do, but differently. My apple or carrot or fork or hat or whatever usually has a blank or muted background and is in 3D. I can manipulate the image in my mind, spinning it, seeing it from different angles, sometimes even dissecting it depending on what it is.

For some reason, hat is always a top hat. A fancy purple, black, and gray top hat.

However, for me, picnic table is in a greenspace, cabin is in a Rossesque painting, and brook is a burbling video with sound, not a still image.

We compared how we visualize other things as well - their weekdays have colors and are in a Sunday through Saturday row.  Mine are also Sunday through Saturday, but move and can be manipulated depending on in what manner I'm thinking of the days. Things to do on each day are visualized in different colors - church things are purple, medical things are grey, to do things are yellow. Past days are faded greyscale while current day is technicolor.

I haven't asked them if their colors have specific tastes like mine do. Perhaps I'll ask tomorrow...
