[Adventures] in Misreading

[Adventure 81]

For years growing up, I cheated on school eye exams, memorizing the answers of the elementary school students who went ahead of me. No one had any idea I couldn't focus my eyes properly until the sixth grade when my school eye exam was done one on one in the nurse's office.

As a result, I learned to read the shapes of words on the chalkboard and other places because I couldn't make out the individual letters. I still use that skill when glancing at text messages, signs, and other things quickly in order to get the gist of what they are saying. This doesn't always go well.

For example, I got a text the other day...

I read this as RECTUMS Explosion Box. I wasn't sure I wanted such a thing in my life.

I misread things so often that sometimes I read something correctly and am sure I saw it wrong only to read it again and to have it say what I originally thought.

The above came with my eldest child's mattress. I was sure I read it wrong, but didn't. Then I was sure it was folded just after the second e, but it wasn't. When I unfolded the rest of it, it did say "Please peel" ... it was just cut off in an unfortunate place.

And then there was this...

Surely it didn't say Sherlock Wide Boy. But yet, it did. At least they're easy to adjust and durable, yet lightweight.

Do you do this as well? How did you read the product description in the first photo? Was it deep as f&ck?
