The [Adventure] of Not Going Back

So many posts these days have to do with going back to normal. Going back to the way things used to be. Going back to pre-pandemic or pre-Biden or prehistoric times for all I know. Going back is not ok.

Going back is not ok because racism, ableism, unequal pay, lack of a living wage, homophobia, transphobia, lack of equality and equity, and so many other things are not ok. Because a global pandemic has wreaked havoc on just about every aspect of life. Because so many have died, so many are in danger, so many need assistance, support, grace, forgiveness, love, acceptance, a new start. Because we're called to advocate for the poor, for women, for refugees, for minorities, for the outsider, for the imprisoned, for the oppressed and not go back to whatever "way it was" you're talking about.

We need to move forward, remembering how precious life is; how important time with loved ones is; how precious the words I love you are and how extravagantly you can use them.
