Family Planning [Adventure]

[Adventure 283]

No, not that kind of family planning.

We were planning our trip to Camp Calumet and we'd gathered to discuss the logistics of food. Mama, wanting a real vacation, not only did not want to have to cook, but also did not want to have to be after teenagers and young adults to cook and to hear the arguments that were sure to ensue about cleaning up after cooking. So Mama's plan was to do cereal/breakfast bar / fruit / whatever breakfast and sandwich/ yogurt / fruit / veggies and dip / whatever lunches and then get take-out for dinner - no cooking necessary. Mama offered the possibility of bringing the instant pot and/or rice cooker, but mentioned that she would have no part in cooking with or cleaning such things.

Then the discussion took a turn: the waffle iron. It's compact and therefore easy to transport and waffles might be a nice treat on a chilly morning. But, of course, my children did not stop there. Eggs could also be made in the waffle iron. And toast. In fact, many things could be cooked in a waffle iron. Grilled cheese, for example. And if grilled cheese, why not quesadillas?

So now I'm packing a waffle iron and the children have plans to make all the things in the waffle iron.
