[a moment] to visit

[moment 59]

We hadn't seen my husband's family since Thanksgiving 2019 thanks to the pandemic.

We had been working on ways to take time to safely visit and had decided to wait until the weather was warmer and outside gatherings - and camping in their yard - would be possible.

And then a tree took out both of our vehicles and our in-laws offered to sell us one of theirs that they rarely use.

In less than twenty four hours, Jim and I were on the road to Pennsylvania. And a little over twenty four hours from our arrival in PA, we were on our way home. It felt like we only had a moment to visit.

But we made the most of that moment. We played cards and dominoes. We shared meals together. We talked and we laughed and figured out that the only updates we had to give each other were medical stuff because we all rarely go anywhere due to covid. It was nice to catch up anyway...to share stories and spend what time we had reconnecting and just enjoying each others' company.

Too soon, we were on our way back to Connecticut, looking forward to warmer weather and a longer visit and more moments of love and laughter.
