[reason 208] baking yesteryear

 B. Dylan. Hollis just published a wonderful, quirky, aesthetically pleasing cookbook called Baking Yesteryear. It arrived yesterday, and I nearly immediately marked at least a dozen recipes I want to make in the coming weeks - some of them because they sound tasty, and some because I'm just plain intrigued.

These are recipes from the 1900s to the 1980s. Let's just say that, when making an ingredients shopping list, dark brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, pecans, and light corn syrup topped the list.

I began with a familiar favorite this morning - peanut butter cookies made with peanut butter, eggs, and sugar. No flour. They're one of our gluten free favorites. The recipe in the cookbook has less sugar than the one I have, and they came out amazing!
