Onyx seems to inherently know how to have a calming effect on most people. Since they could walk, they would instinctively seek out people who could use a little extra love, compassion, and/or patience and provide that to them. 

And they genuinely love to spend time with people in deep conversation or body doubling or anything in between. It doesn't matter the age of the person, either. They can make friends with people their age, 70 years their senior, or 10 years younger.
