[the moment] that could have led to trouble
[moment 329]
Onyx and their partner decided on a trip to the mall, and Austen wanted to go, too. We arrived at 12:30ish and the teens were off, banning Austen and I from joining them. Which was to be expected. Austen and I made our way around the mall, running into the teens at various points. They accused us of following them. We accused them of the same. It didn't help that we have the same taste in stores.
We finally lost them as they took the elevator to the second floor and we headed for the escalator. Having completed a circuit of both floors of the mall, Austen and I decided that what we really needed was to sit. And to eat something. And we happened to be incredibly close to P.F. Chang's. We made sure the teens were nowhere in sight and headed for the restaurant. As we perused the menu, we discussed how very much in trouble we were going to be with Onyx, and decided that since we were not allowed to hang out with them at the mall, that included in the restaurant. I took a moment to snap this photo as evidence of our lunch together to presented to Onyx sometime, perhaps far into the future.
Realizing that we were going to be unable to finish our meals, we requested containers for our leftovers. I had half of my meal left - which was one of Onyx's favorites - so I put their name on it and put it in the bag.
After meeting up with the teens at the end of our trip, we decided to show Onyx the photo. They may have pouted just a little ... that is, until we presented them with a container of Mongolian beef and rice.
