[a moment] with Nicolai
[moment 330]
There once was a persons by the name of Nicolai Bellsnickel. In fact, there still is. They are seventy-two-ish years ... decades ... ??? ... old. They aren't sure themself, as they have memory problems. In fact, they are unsure of lots of things. Gender? Not important to their identity, even if they could remember what gender they are. Age? You're as young as you feel. Where are they from? Who knows - they've been everywhere so many times that they can't remember from whence they came.
Nicolai is incredibly judgmental - to the point where they keep a list. They have a compulsion to give people things. They dress as if it's always below freezing. They prefer to do good in any circumstance and expect others to want to be good as well. But sometimes they forget. To be good.
One day when Nicolai and their friends were put upon by a bunch of bandits, Nicolai lulled their leader to sleep and then shortly thereafter lit two of the bandits on fire. Not very nice or good. Oops.
Nicolai is my Dungeons and Dragons character for a music-based campaign run by Mal. When told I needed to pick a song for a D&D character, one song sprung immediately to mind. And then I realized exactly how creepy it sounded and what kind of character I could create from it...
"You better watch out
You better not cry
You better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is comin' to town
He's making a list
He's checking it twice
He's gonna find out
Who's naughty or nice
Santa Claus is comin' to town
He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake"
