[a moment] of panic
[moment 45]
To say I have trouble sleeping is putting it mildly. I wake up hundreds of times a night most nights. The nights I get a couple hours of solid sleep are those where I've reached the point of extreme exhaustion.
Because I wake up so often, and change positions often, I catch glimpses of things in my half-awake state. Some of these things give me a moment of panic. My mind translates my sweater hanging on a hook into a person ... a very tall person ... standing over me. Or my water bottle as one of many things, including, after a very strange dream, as a mechanical dragon.
Panicking about anything in the middle of the night doesn't help my innate inability to sleep.
