Nodding Off [Adventure]

[Adventure 301]

I sit in a big comfy chair in the otherwise empty waiting room while my child is an an appointment. The only sounds are those of air blowing out of vents and the occasional person walking in the office on the other side of the wall or in the hallway.

My breath is hot in my mask, which is usually a trigger for me, but with the ambient breeze-like sound and the relative quiet and peace of this place, I find it almost comforting. If I allowed myself, I could fall asleep in seconds. And I really wish I could. Sleep has been difficult at beast and we have a busy few days ahead of us.

I struggle not to nod off, and just as I'm losing that struggle, my child emerges, ready to continue with our day. My nap will have to wait.
