2020 [Adventures]

[Adventure 285]

Looking for a blog post I thought I'd written last October, I was shocked to discover just two posts for that entire month ... and the month before. It seems I wrote a lot during the first month of the pandemic - my way of processing what was going on - and then not much after until Advent was upon us.

I thought about why that was. It was a global pandemic - I couldn't have been all that busy, could I? It was then I remembered - I was busy keeping five teens and young adults as entertained as possible during quarantine. I was busy recording music and other aspects of worship and learning to edit them into a video to premiere every Sunday. I was busy managing my chronic illnesses and my own mental health while worrying about the mental and emotional health of my children. I was busy finding ways for us to be at Calumet as much as possible when we were allowed to travel out of state so my children could experience something other than home and hikes and the occasional visit to Gramma and Papa's. I was busy trying to help my family survive.

I was also busy with online meetings for New Start Ministry, @ your table, bible study, book study, and Onyx's FIT Teens group, and various Calumet events. Every Wednesday evening was Holden Evening Prayer on Calumet's facebook page. Every Sunday was a livestream with Pastor Rachel and Julie and then worship online.

And I was making signs and more signs and different size signs.

And my health was spiraling quickly. It was eventually determined that despite the risks, I needed to see specialist after specialist to figure out what was going on with me. I had a sleep test, a cardiac workup, ultrasounds, MRIs, CT scans, x-rays, and received referral after referral. This poured over into 2021 and continues to this day with very few answers and very few solutions for those answers.

I've written a post for every day of 2021 so far. Some are serious, some lighthearted. All have helped me through this year of continued turmoil and uncertainty and medical issues and joy and celebration and kindness and doing good.

Eight-one posts to go.
