[Adventures] in Packing Light
[Adventure 287]
We're just going for four days...ish.
We arrive Monday evening, spend Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday enjoying Camp Calumet, and then pack up and leave Friday morning.
We won't need much, I said. Such an easy trip, I thought.
We just need clothes. Don't forget sweaters and socks and clothing suitable for the cool mornings and evenings. And an extra pair of shoes in case it rains. And blankets - it might be cold at night. And towels and shower stuff.
I'll pack the food. Granola bars and protein bars and fruit strips. Mandarin oranges and peaches and pineapple chunks. Cereal, chips, popcorn, crackers, and cookies. Perhaps more than a little candy and some pudding cups. Peanut butter, jelly, hazelnut spread, and fluff. Mayo, mustard, ketchup, salt and pepper. Salsa. And let's not forget the refrigerated stuff ...turkey, roast beef, sliced cheese, shredded cheese, block cheese, pepperoni, butter, milk, half and half ... and a mini fridge to put all of it in.
And beverages - I have three types of cans of soda, juice boxes, Capri Sun, coffee, instant coffee, and hot chocolate.
I need to remember to get marshmallows and big jugs of water and ham and salami and corn tortillas and waffle mix and gluten free bread.
Then there are sheets and pillows and extra blankets for sitting on the beach.
And entertainment items - poi, puzzles, games, and tie dye supplies. Some Christmas-themed books for me. And Dungeons & Dragons supplies.
Oh...and crafting supplies to make signs and ornaments and pins and guitar picks and dice bags and other things.
And a six foot table and a card table, my crutches, and a couple chairs. Hopefully we'll remember my memory foam mattress topper.
Did I mention the seven people?
Thank goodness we have a fifteen passenger van.
