Not A Perfect [Adventure]
[Adventure 213]
It wasn't the perfect day for the beach. It was cold and windy and a bit rainy. The forecast, which just that morning was for partial clearing by noon, worsened by the minute. But that didn't stop us.
We met at the beach in the early afternoon and enjoyed lunch and good conversation. Some of the younger beachgoers ventured into the water while others, wrapped in blankets or snuggled in hoodies walked along the shore hunting for shells.
The beach wasn't busy, and as the afternoon progressed and clouds thickened instead of lifting, it gradually emptied. An occasional sprinkle turned more steady and some of us took refuge under the cover of the pavilion.
Once the teens and young adults finally decided it was too cold and wet, we were on our way home - and just in time. As we pulled out of the parking lot, the clouds opened up in a downpour.
It may not have been the perfect day to go to the beach, but it was the perfect day to go to the beach. It wasn't crowded. We got to enjoy the fresh air and the waves lapping the shore. The clouds were magnificent. The conversation and company felt like home.
