Emergency [Adventure]
[Adventure 235]
In the emergency department after my fall down the last few basement stairs, my husband at my side, I lay in the bed in excruciating pain laughing hysterically, but not too loudly.
We at the same time felt sorry for the nurses, yet utterly amused. There was a patient in a room nearby that had a lot to say. How do I know this? Because this person was loud enough for us to clearly hear.
One of the things he needed to make known was that people say he talks too much and constantly and that people think he's on drugs or something because he talks so much but he's just naturally like that, but if anyone is offering drugs he'd gladly take them.
He also seemed quite perturbed by the fact that the "Russian doctor" didn't speak Russian but had a Russian accent. He went on about this for a while with one nurse, then again when a different nurse checked in on him, and with someone on the phone.
He greeted the security guard who had been summoned to keep an eye on him by exclaiming an enthusiastic greeting followed by recognizing the fact that the security guard was the one that tackled him earlier.
Eventually his buddy showed up to "help out." This friend informed the nurses that this guy could get a little out of hand, so he was there to help calm the situation. How do we know this? Because the friend was just as loud and talked just as much and gave the nurses just as much trouble as his buddy.
Soon after that, I was whisked away to x-ray and they were all gone ... or sedated ... by the time I got back.
The rest of our stay was blissfully uneventful.
Nurses don't get paid enough.
