Destructive [Adventure]
Our family isn't normal.
And I have OCD.
And we enjoy breaking things.
Add these things together and broken air conditioners get yeeted out second story windows to see how spectacularly - or not - they'll break. A piano gets deconstructed for fun. Our breakfast bar, no longer wanted, gets ripped out and sledgehammered. Broken furniture is reduced to rubble with splitting maul and axe.
And then there's our deck.
This deck has provided for many amazing memories over the twenty two years we've lived in this house. It spent much of its time as a pirate ship, with ship's wheel and mast, providing fuel for our children's imaginations and excuses to have pirate parties complete with treasure buried in our yard and the woods behind our house.
In more recent years, the deck has been disused and fallen into disrepair. It was decided that we would much rather get rid of it than fix it. And so a chainsaw was purchased and one Sunday afternoon the destruction began. It was done mindfully - useful boards reclaimed for use in building a retaining wall and fixing the lower patio type deck.
We have visions of what we'll do with the space after the destruction is done. All I'm sure of is that it will be transformed into space that we'll use and enjoy.
