If You Tell This OCD Person to Pack [Adventure]
[Adventure 119]
If you tell this OCD person to pack, they need to make a list first.
In looking for some paper, they discover a mess that needs to be cleaned up and clean it up.
In the process of cleaning, they remember they need to put dinner in the crockpot, so they go and do that.
They notice dishes need to be done, so they get to work on that as soon as dinner is in the crockpot.
The espresso maker that is next to the sink seems to be beckoning to them to make a tasty beverage, so they do that.
While the espresso is brewing, they notice a soy sauce packet on the counter and remember they've just rinsed out a used-up soy sauce bottle. They then grab the collections of soy sauce packets from the kitchen and dining room and a funnel and empty the packets into the bottle.
Sitting down with their macchiato, they remember they're supposed to be making a list.
List made, they get to work packing.
They start with clothes and realize that half their clothes are still in a laundry basket waiting to be put away.
They fold their clothes and put them away, keeping out outfits for their weekend away.
The suitcases are under the bed, and as they are extracting them, they remember the organization they were planning to do under the bed and start working on that.
Organization done, they resume packing. Clothes- check! Snacks - check!
They find a bag of stuff that belongs in the first aid kit and send a child to retrieve the first aid kit from their vehicle. They update and organize the first aid kit and, while thinking about safety, realize they should pack work gloves.
On the way to the kitchen to find the work gloves, they pass the basement door and remember the load of laundry they put in the night before. They go down, transfer it to the dryer, and put another load in.
Upon returning upstairs, they hang some of the laundry to dry and suddenly remember the macchiato they started drinking when making the list and then abandoned. They retrieve it from the living room, bring it to the kitchen, and transform it into an iced macchiato, as it is now cold.
As they plunk ice into a large mason jar, they notice there's not much ice left in the ice container, so they empty the ice cube trays into it and refill them.
They return to the living room and notice the partially packed suitcase and remember that they previously bagged up toiletries for the trip.
They go to the bathroom to retrieve the bag of toiletries from the linen closet and see the disarray that is the top shelf of the linen closet. They rearrange and organize the shelf, and then finally put the bag of toiletries in the suitcase.
As they zip the suitcase, they remember the work gloves they had gone to get and never actually retrieved. They go to the kitchen to get the gloves.
Gloves in hand, they think about other things they might need for doing work outdoors. They find some sunscreen, insect repellant, and uv protectant sleeves and pack those. They add liquid IV, water bottle slings, and a water bottle to their suitcase. It's then when they remember they haven't packed their meds.
When they go to pack their medications, they realize one of their prescription bottles is empty and in need of immediate refill. They call the pharmacy to refill it.
While on the phone they see a book they want to read and decide to pack it. They then remember that they need to pack their tattoo drawing, so they retrieve it from their notebook. This reminds them that they need to draw a couple tattoos for their middle child.
They get on their phone to retrieve the reference material and get distracted by all the things.
But not to worry, the rest of the packing will get done eventually, as there's still a week until the trip.
