[a moment] of discovery
[moment 92]
My fourteen year old is on the phone with their friend discussing getting together with them next week. Their friend lives in Massachusetts, so a get-together takes some planning.
So far they've discussed renting a private movie theater, going to an aquarium, going to a museum, going to a science museum, going to a series of museums, going to the zoo, painting pottery ... and now they seem to have decided on going to a mall. This because, it was discovered, my child had no memory of ever having been to a mall.
My child has been to a mall - for about ten minutes - once. It's not that I necessarily have something against malls. It's more that we don't need more stuff, usually can't eat anywhere at the mall, and would rather spend our time finding strange things at thrift shops for not much money.
Oh, and apparently my child hasn't been to the zoo, either.
So to the mall we'll go. And more than likely, to a zoo sometime in the future.
