[a moment] on being late
[moment 152]
Eris headed to the van, and upon hearing noise and peeking around the corner, she discovered that there was a bear seeing what we were serving for breakfast in Chez Garbage Can next to our van. She retreated very quickly back into the house, informing us that we were going to be late for doing yardwork for my parents and their neighbor.
Mal ran down to the garage to bang on the door from the inside to encourage our guest to consider partaking of their breakfast elsewhere. From my vantagepoint on our front deck, I was able to determine that our guest had settled themself down for a meal to the side of our house. The bear looked at me quizzically as I asked if they were satisfied with the service and if perhaps they could stay put while several of us hopped into the van and be on our way. Our ursine friend seemed to grunt some form of agreement and we were finally on our way.
We were a bit late - but at least we had a good excuse!
