[Nevertheless] There is Heartbreak [Advent 5]

Advent is a time of waiting, preparation, of hope.

But for some, it's a time of sorrow, dread, heartbreak.

Today my heart breaks for the mother of two murdered children, for their family, their friends.
For the Body of Christ who mourn the loss of part of the Body.
For all victims of violence and those who love them.
For the lonely, those who feel forgotten.
For people struggling with mental illness, physical illness, emotional anguish.
For refugees everywhere, stranded at one border or another, striving toward a new life, struggling just to live.
For those in need of food, shelter, rest, warmth, love, light, hope.

For now, all I can do is pray ... pray for moments comfort and peace amidst the desolation; that they can feel the warmth of God's love wrapped around them; and that others will be inspired to help, support, comfort, encourage, and love those in need of help and hope.

In times like these, Hope waits patiently, yet persistently. Even when it can't be felt, Hope perseveres. Hope comforts, loves, lifts up. It is found in the quiet moments and raging in the storms of life. Hope reaches out for you endlessly, longing to envelop you in its embrace.

To those whose hearts are breaking - you are loved, you are valued, you are precious, and even if you don't feel it now, hope will find you.
