To Begin an ADVENTure
It is the First Sunday in Advent.
Part of the reading we read as a family was this:
“It will seem like all hell has broken loose—sun, moon, stars, earth, sea, in an uproar and everyone all over the world in a panic, the wind knocked out of them by the threat of doom, the powers-that-be quaking.“And then—then!—they’ll see the Son of Man welcomed in grand style — a glorious welcome! When all this starts to happen, up on your feet. Stand tall with your heads high. Help is on the way!” (Luke 21:25-28)When I began reading, I thought, "What a wonderful way to start Advent ... all hell is breaking loose!" And I actually feel a bit like that in life now- like all hell is breaking loose. Between issues with getting appointments with specialists and needed medication, my pain levels going through the roof, and feeling like we're hemorrhaging money in an attempt to fix things and cope with life, it seems my life is in an uproar. I feel like I'm running myself ragged trying to keep up only to fall exponentially behind.
But the reading doesn't end with doom and gloom - it ends with hope and the promise that help is on the way. What a wonderful reminder - and a perfect thought to carry with us as we journey into Advent.
