Ships and Potions [Adventure]

[Adventure 308]

We spent the day adventuring, first to Mystic Seaport, then to Olde Mystick Village.

We didn't plan well. We had no idea where we were going or what we were doing or how many exhibits would be open or closed. But we went anyway.

Mystic Seaport was quiet and not busy at all. We seemed to go through the exhibits that were open quickly, not needing to wait for anyone. The excitement over what was awaiting us at Olde Mystick Village perhaps robbed some of the enthusiasm for the seaport and we decided to head there rather than seek out more places to explore.

Upon arriving at the maze of shops and restaurants, we made our way to Cloak and Wand ... after getting lost just a little. We all went our own ways once we were in the shop. I was drawn to the room with the creepy and curious. There was so much to take in, I didn't even think to snap a photo of any of it.

Once we had seen all we could see, we headed to the counter to order some potions, and then, after the painstaking decision-making process, we proceeded outside to enjoy our brews. The key lime pie is delicious, even if it is a memory erasure potion.

Sitting outside enjoying our potions, we realized two things. One, that we were all incredibly hungry; and two, that we were right next to Pink Basil, one of our favorite restaurants there. A late lunch and great conversation was enjoyed by all.

We made our way from shop to shop - first the general store for fudge and other goodies, then to various other shops with everything from food to henna to all things Irish .

It was wonderful spending time with my kids and with a friend whose mere presence and joyful spirit always brings a smile to my face. I think we all needed that adventure that day.
