16 [Adventures]

[Adventure 264]

This sixteenth birthday thing has provided many adventures. 

1. We had a fiends birthday party wherein we met friends at the park and then went to the movies (private theater).

2. While trying to coordinate whom was available when and when the movie theater was available, I almost reserved a theater several times and then happened to pick just the right day and time so that most friends could make it. 

3. In scouting out meeting locations the day before the party, Onyx and I ended up in a super sketchy location before finally finding an acceptable park.

4. When we chose the park, I envisioned the children going off and finding somewhere to hang and chat. In reality, the kids and adults all stood under a tree by the parking lot for an hour catching up. It was wonderful. 

5. Once at the theater, I took orders for drinks and popcorn and paid nearly as much for refreshments ad I did for a private theater rental.

6. Eris picked the perfect movie - it was very punny and right up their alley. Everyone seemed to have had a great time.

7. In attempting to purchase a birthday gift for Eris, I realized that at least one of my children is logged into my personal amazon account instead of our family account and I couldn't remember which child it was, so ordering Eris' gift couldn't happen until after their birthday. Luckily the gift was the preorder of a game.

8. I forgot to buy the requested dessert when I was planning to, so had to go to the grocery store on the way home from an evening appointment... at 9PM. 

9. The night before their birthday, Eris went to sleep on the early side so they'd be well rested for their big day. The other teens and young adults, not so much.

10. Birthday morning, Eris was up early as usual, and finally asked me if they could wake up the other children at some point. We agreed on a time and they did their best to wait patiently. 

11. While waiting, we watched a youtuber play Subnautica to pass the time.

12. We watched A Muppet Christmas Carol and had ice cream for lunch.

13. Games were played.

14. We watched A Muppet Christmas Carol in Swedish.

15. Daddy came home and Eris finally got to open gifts ... after we ordered pizza.

16. The day ended with eating pizza while watching Diff'rent Strokes and then games and birthday cake and laughter. 

The adventure isn't over. We're celebrating once again with Gramma and Papa and Aunt Renee and (hopefully) Nana. That will definitely be an adventure.
